the problems are
1) division of labour is important, even for "communists" and if you spend your time cooking meals you're not doing more productive things
2) eating is a social activity, and one of the more important lessons I've learned throughout the years is you should almost never eat alone - it's like working out, if you're eating alone you're basically losing time you could be socializing - if you're eating at home, and you're alone, you're not building solidarity as much as you could be. Also it's difficult to eat with other people in places that are not restaurants, in practice, a lot of the time
3) if you're out adventuring, it's difficult to have food prepped *all* the time. A trip to another city is virtually impossible to pull off without a restaurant visit. You can blame this on capitalism if you want but location matters a lot with food.
