My nephew called to cancel plans he made with my husband over Presidents' Day weekend. They go to a Dungeons and Dragons convention each year. The convention always seems to fall on Valentine's Day, and my nephew cancelled once before because it also fell on his girlfriend's birthday.

The girlfriend was really horrible. I tried to like her, but neither she nor her mother worked, and she tried repeatedly to get my nephew to move with her and her mother. Basically to help with the bills. So much drama. I felt bad about not liking her, however.

He really hasn't dated much since, and I've worried about him. He is a sweet kid. Quite shy. I mean he plays D & D. Shy and geeky is hard.

So, he called to cancel. He started dating someone recently, and he and his boyfriend want to spend their first Valentine's Day together. My husband asked one question. Does the boyfriend play D & D. Yes, they actually met in a D & D group.
