I think I found a better word: instead of neighborhood, I'll start using block
it may still be understood pretty much the same way, but the double meaning of 'block' under the developing culture of defederating instances upon (made-up) accusations is too appealing for me to resist
instance operators/moderators, please don't fall in the trap of judging the accused by how morally repulsive the allegations are. this is a human vulnerability that's being actively exploited. their repulsiveness bears no relationship to the guilt of the accused. great people have been accused of horrible things. people have reacted to horrible accusations and burned alleged witches. please don't allow yourselves to be manipulated and used to carry out injustice. investigate first, shoot later.
