To counter the threat of gas shortages and prevent widespread heating outages, Ukraine is increasing imports: in the first half of 2025, they increased 19-fold compared to the same period in 2024.

Ukraine needs to import 4.4 billion cubic meters of gas to survive the winter, which will cost approximately $2 billion, but will likely need more gas if attacks continue.
