MIT and Harvard researchers have re-engineered the immune system’s first responders, natural killer cells, so they can hunt tumours without being fought by the rest of the immune system. In mouse models, they wiped out most lymphoma cells within weeks, stayed active longer, and avoided the dangerous immune storms that plague some CAR-T therapies.
