This week revealed something important: who is ready to collaborate with fascism.

Between the firings of people for not being mournful of the death of a fascist to soooo many politicians, media outlets, and institutions sanitizing Kirk's legacy, they are showing who is ready to, not just be complicit, but actively collaborate with Trump and Fascism. Up until now, some institutions, like some universities' leadership or Democratic politicians were willing to just be complicit - not really standing in the way, but also not getting out of the way or helping the fascists along. But presenting someone as "engaging in civil discourse" who has called for and helped facilitate violence against people of color, university faculty, LGBTQIA+ people, and all of his political opponents is such a clear demonstration of collaboration.

This is important, because it is making clear who is on our side as things escalate and who is going to betray us. There is a reason the French Resistance and other fascist resistance efforts in Europe kept track of who non-nazi and non-fascist collaborators were. Fascism cannot do what it does without these people actively helping them....and A LOT of people have decided they are ready to help fascism. This is a thermometer that's worth taking note of, and let's keep track of the collaborators.

And let's keep track of who isn't collaborating yet. Let's keep track of who is still speaking up and where one can do that. Let's celebrate resistance in every corner we find it.
