They built a network; they grow it through engagement-based algorithms and push notifications; they apologize when they inadvertently amplify hate speech.And when it comes to content moderation, on Substack as on any other social network, your rights come down to the whims of the co-founders and a handful of their employees.It turns out that most venture-backed consumer internet companies ultimately take similar shapes. I'm under no illusion the Substack founders will take this moment to re-think their policies on Nazis.
