There are so many things that tie into this.

I really didn't expect to see the US collapse in my lifetime, but I seriously underestimated the malevolent forces that refuse to accept change and the powerful forces behind them that reinforce (and benefit from) their beliefs.

It didn't take a Machiavellian scheme to bring down the US, all it took was a lot of ignorance and indifference.
