I keep pronouncing the word Tsuyu incorrectly as Tsúyù when the correct pronunciation is Tsùyú ― meaning "Rainy Season"(梅雨(つゆ)). If I say Tsúyù, that means "Dipping Sauce"(汁(つゆ)).
Tsùyú desu ne.It's the raining season, innit?
Tsúyù desu ne.It's the dipping sauce, innit?
And in case you were wondering, no the average native Japanese speakers will flat out not understand you if you get the pitch accents incorrectly. It's as difficult as an English speaker trying to understand a Japanese speaker coming up to them and asking"You like red?" when they mean: "Do you like to read?".
