On the plus side... I learned I can do something very easily that I'd guess most people would NEVEr be willing to do, with as much accuracy as I did...

I laid on a padded cushion in front of the AC for almost an hour, with a digital clock to mark every time anything changed in the mood of the Ac. I recorded what I heard (rattles, clicks machine hums, etc), what I felt (is it cool enough? No cool? Mild cool?) And the stink. oh yes it had a stink, reminds me of milk.
