I mean look, I grew up in a family and community where a deep hatred of POC, queer people, non-christians, immigrants, and girls/women were everyday things.

Couple that with the idea that violence and domination of others were normal, healthy qualities associated with masculinity and maleness.

All of this was *normal*.

It never stopped being normal.

The Vance Boelters of the u.s. are the inevitable outcome of this widespread understanding of "normal."
