As a child, a German man who goes by the name Marco was sent to live with Fritz Henkel, a foster father. At night, Henkel would come into his room asking to cuddle or wait outside the bathroom as Marco brushed his teeth before bed. This went on for years. In 2021, Rachel Aviv reported on an experiment, beginning in the late 1960s, in which the professor and psychologist Helmut Kentler placed foster children under the care of pedophiles, and the trauma it inflicted.
