i finally wrote this: a TDR trace simulator that "ray-traces" all the possible reflected/transmitted paths through a series of transmission line segments recursively. it generates the trace by summing delayed and scaled versions of the excitation waveform, in this case 2,585 of them

it's the first step towards solving the inverse problem
