Meta's formerly monolithic, top-down AI organization is now flatter and has more room for researchers to maneuver and ship.The bear case is that it's getting harder to catch up every day, even if you aren't starting a new team from scratch and trying to balance its work against two other AI teams that you are also paying a lot of money to. Meta's top rivals all already have next-generation frontier models in development and getting closer to shipping.
