@eliterrell @cstross @arstechnica People tend to forget that solar PV the semiconductor tech is not the only way to do it; the organic polymer "cooling film" approach, where you cut your aircon costs by letting less sunlight in windows, is single-digit efficient or so in the lab, but it's headed at (in the cooling scenario) negative costs and in the non-cooling scenario at "you were going to paint that anyway".
For energy, "sufficiently concentrated" is a new way to think. It's not done yet.
