ok heres what ive decided on

p.[name] gets replaced in strings with the players inferred pronoun
o.[name] gets replaced with the opposite

the player is a character in all my media and is androgynous in appearance due to my design habits
so despite being male he works as a woman too so it does not affect anything what gender he is
characters will get it wrong regardless
