Atheism will never come back into vogue like in the pre-GamerGate rationalist era. Why? Because in an irony so poetic you could argue it was divinely-inspired, the grand experiment of atheistic society has failed by all metrics within very same rationalist framework that advocated for it in the first place. Any rationalist who refuses to lie to themselves will look at the world they now live in and be forced to come to the conclusion that it is not just bad, but in fact catastrophic for a society to abandon any semblance of the shared moral core that humans are meant to share through mutual participation in spiritual institutions. You don't even have to believe in God yourself to come to this understanding, only an understanding that spirituality is as intrinsically tied to the human experience as our very genome, and is in all likelihood directly linked to it.
