It reads like a meme, but you could unironically write a paper on this topic. I was there, I lived it. It's not really an exaggeration to say that much of the culture war that dominates the modern Internet spawned out of the Internet Atheist schism which was occuring right as millions of phone-wielding normies began pouring onto the Internet. That's where at least half the OGs in the conflict came from.
