I don't like culturalizing societal decay to identity strawmen, f. ex. just earlier today I learned about the "exceptional online personality" leading GrapheneOS who is neither transsexual nor gay (I didn't look it up but if people don't put he/him in their name and have 10 paragraphs explaining how gay they are I assume they're straight by default).
However I do know the tendency you're refering too, maybe it's comparable to chinese eunuchs being unequivocally supportive of power to avoid accountability to the popular body for supporting despots and being somewhat icky to popular morals.
I once asked a transwoman I know IRL if she would rather associate with rich, privileged people who were very trans-supportive or working class, direct, sometimes rude people who were "tolerant" (in the original sense of having a problem with something but not taking action against it and still holding up some politeness).
