   so im randomly idly thinkin bout how to best do arbitrary tags in activitypub, like on a proper blog or tumblr or whatever

   the big problem is that `tag` in activitypub has come to imply markup of textual content -- links, @ mentions, # hashtags, : custom emoji :, and other microsyntaxes -- and i'm unsure of how to instead just refer to a concept or topic that has nothing to do with the textual content

     @ilja @trwnh we used to have the same in pleroma/gnu social. having 'hashtags' that don't appear in the body is fine.

     @trwnh In Plume you can give tags to articles. They do not refer to a specific part of the text, but are still there. They use type hashtag.

     Example: curl "https://blog.ilja.space/~/B/Pattern%20matching%20in%20Elixir%20and%20why%20it's%20so%20great" -H 'accept: application/activity+json' | jq .tag

     at the very least, the `tag` array can only include Object or Link, not any arbitrary string

     so do i just break the spec and say "you can tag arbitrary strings" or do i use some other extension property for categorization or topicality

     @lain @ilja maybe it's fine, but there's something ontologically "weird"/"wrong" about it, in the same way that mastodon requires Mention tags even if you never actually mentioned someone
