  The dirty little secret that more than a few supporters of adding a QT feature to #Mastodon either don't want to acknowledge or just outright won't: QT is a way to wrest clout from the original poster and drive traffic to one's own post and feed, as well as circumvent other users' restrictions on reply displays. A lot of this is couched in euphemisms to make it sound more congenial - "I'm just adding context!" - but at it's core it's an attention grab more than a functional communication.
