   ebooks are cool but there isn't a good way to get them that lets you actually "own" them, outside of like, pirating the book?
   
   also all the hardware sucks imo

     @MrBranch40 yeah, but they're big and heavy and can't be backed up, one fire or flood will destroy your collection forever.
     
     there are benefits to e-books, in theory.

     @root I much prefer an actual book. I already look at screens too much and use books, paper ones, to get away from screen time.

     Used books at thrift stores are cheaper than new and the selection is interesting in that I am on the "hunt" for something to buy and bring home.

     still a fun idea tho. my mom has some weird books that aren't available as e-books yet i think? might look into book scanning some day.
