     @luckytran Because we want it not to be happening and we can't make it stop, which is terrifying, so instead of facing that we'll pretend it's gone away and just victimize anyone who tells us otherwise, and feel better (until we die, or someone close to us dies, then we'll demand to know why nobody warned us about this terrible thing).
