    You believe me yet?

I guess I should move to another host.

@thatonecalculator @robpike Yeah. I'd suggest checking out Honk, it's pretty low maintenance and just works.

@thatonecalculator @robpike It's funny how diametrically opposed Calckey and Honk are now that I think about it.

@w@arachnid.town @robpike@inuh.net yea, honk is pure minimalism while Calckey is a refined but technically rich experience. Both are good in their own rights.

@w@arachnid.town @robpike@inuh.net we were originally considering Cassandra support, then opted for ScyllaDB support per-table. That won't be ready for months though.

@thatonecalculator @robpike Not really. It's more about ease of admining and usability on lower end hardware sort of thing. Misskey is (relatively) heavyweight and has more deployment details. The fork also adds stuff on top of that (actually I think you might've mentioned Cassandra at some point but correct me if I'm wrong.)

With Honk you just throw it on whatever and it works. No database setup, no heavyweight UI, none of that stuff. The kinds of priorities it has are the complete opposite.

@w@arachnid.town @robpike@inuh.net fair enough. I also feel like snac2 or GoToSocial captures honk's goals better than honk does, but that's just me

@robpike @thatonecalculator I guess how I'd put it is that Misskey and its derivatives are focused on excitement, and Honk is focused on boringness. People like their software to be exciting with cat ears and fancy UI design, others like their software to be uneventful and straightforward.

Wait a minute... I feel like I've heard someone say something like this. What's his name? Bob Mike?

@thatonecalculator @robpike (I know it might sound negative when I speak about Misskey, but it is a trade-off. Some people really like Misskey's shininess and featureset. It seems to be executed well for those people.)
