   Troon was literally a combination of TRansgender/TRanny/TRanssexual and Goon (Somethingawful users) to the point it was used on that site itself.
   
   It stuck because terminally online individuals were found to have Somethingawful accounts to the point some circles I remember had users accusing others of being goons/ex goons, especially the gamergate circles.
   
   But professional victims don't care about internet history, just self doxing and then crying out.

     To add to this, I did some quick research and the earliest Kiwi Farms posts from 2015 (excluding edited rewritten ops) use the term to refer to Richard/Terra Jones, an infamous transgender SA moderator known as "fire" and a common target of Something Sensitive. Said person was also way off the deep end.

     As other crazies in that sphere were outed as having SA accounts and as KFs cultural influence (including ex goons and users from other SA offshoot sites like Something sensitive and MPC making accounts to post) grew the word troon broke out into the fringe internet from there. But the word came from SA too, and a 2014 thread in the comedy gold mine is called "ask a troon anything" and one of the replies from OP even defines it: a transgender goon. So by 2014, goons on SA were using it to describe each other at the very least.

     You are correct troon was literally coined by transgoons and then it got retconned into a slur when the outside world used it with clear venom.

At the very least the word troon ended up being a fantastic insult, it rolls off the tongue well and immediately brings to mind the image of a degenerate
