Shiina (yowatshiinaesq@mstdn.social)'s status on Thursday, 29-Dec-2022 11:58:05 JST Shiina Like when someone haphazardly left a stem of rose by their nearly empty glass. She’s run a quick glance and I tend to be the type to catch it. So we exchange with our eyes this quick, quiet conversation, perhaps mostly to each other’s satisfaction that voici there is another soul who notice such things and feel assured to have such quick, quiet conversation about it. I never saw her in a companion of others. Always alone she sat, imperceptibly slowly sipping her glass of wine. /3

Shiina (yowatshiinaesq@mstdn.social)'s status on Thursday, 29-Dec-2022 11:58:06 JST Shiina She’d dress in sensible, clean, and unremarkable way such that you never even noticed exactly what she was wearing. Her beautiful silver hair, often in a loose ponytail, was remarkable however. So was this glimmer of smile and curiosity in her eyes. I had exchanged silent conversations with her a couple of times. You know, the way New Yorkers do over some event that’s not unlike a small ripple in our daily lives—noticeable and oftentimes amusing but not big enough to make a fuss about it. /2

Shiina (yowatshiinaesq@mstdn.social)'s status on Thursday, 29-Dec-2022 11:58:07 JST Shiina Before the Boathouse closed its door due to financial difficulty—rumor has that it will reopen next year with fresh funding—I used to go there with some frequency, typically with a girlfriend to chat over glass of wine with a view of the pond. Often I saw this lady, I’d say in her early seventies, alone with a glass of wine. Her sitting alone did not evoke the sense of loneliness. She had this interesting mix of being elegant and ordinary at the same time. /1
