     @acjay @ravenonthill It is illegal for any politician to receive financial assistance from foreigners (especially those sanctioned by the US government).

     So yeah, he could easily end up in federal prison over this.

     @ravenonthill FBI is probably investigating behind the scenes. They usually do not announce when they are investigating publicly unless it gives them an advantage (adds pressure to the suspect).
