   Could someone please tell the early adopters that reading toots whining about new people wanting features they enjoy is *at least* as annoying as reading toots repeatedly asking for features you don't want included?

     @AkivaMCohen I'm only following this end of things in passing, but the most interesting part of it seems to be in the various ways in which it can be implemented. And the flexibility in that line will depend on how it is represented in the ActivityPub protocol. Standards discussions can be annoying and the issues may seem sometimes trivial and petty, but when the discussants have the energy of commitment behind them it can be worth the candle.

     I'm sorry to break it to you, but quote toots *will* be a thing in the near future, whether you want them to be or not - because somebody else who does is going to take the time to code them into their own instance, and then people will vote with their feet. That's not a normative comment on whether or not it's a good thing, by the way. It's just the nature of the decentralized infrastructure that this place runs on. It's inevitable.

     So maybe instead of "how dare you want what you want," you could try to persuade people that actually what they want is a net negative?

     Or, whatever, keep doing what you're doing. I'm sure that'll work

     Uh... My guy, the problem with Twitter that people flowing in now from Twitter have with it isn't its feature set.

     It's that the place is now owned by a sociopathic toddler who enables bigots and trolls.
