     So @taylorlorenz is exactly why I talk about the Fediverse, and don't frame it as "Mastodon".

     She wants quote boosting.

     She thinks it's essential to her work!

     Why deny her a basic function just because people are focused on a feature that's lacking on Mastodon but available on other Fediverse apps?

     Look, @taylorlorenz is largely right. The Fediverse has allowed quote boosting for a long, long time.

     @thechildofroth@mastodon.world @atomicpoet@mastodon.social @rilonen@mastodon.social @ShallowWater@mas.to @taylorlorenz@mastodon.social it's entirely different instance software, so you need to make a new account and migrate your old one. Most Mastodon apps don't have Calckey support yet, but the PWA works good and there's still apps for both platforms

     So could I log in to my mastodon instance account using one of these other clients (Calckey etc) and start quote boosting stuff?

     Or, would I need to migrate my follows and followers to an instance running that alternate 'app'? If so, is that a trivial task (possible even)?

     @ShallowWater @taylorlorenz But that's fine -- they can quote boost with Calckey, Misskey, Friendica, and other Fediverse apps!

     In fact, let's encourage them to use the best tool for the job instead of trying to shoehorn them into Mastodon.
