      Journalists will never stick around this app long term sadly unless it adds quote posting. We desperately need it to communicate effectively, build on each others ideas, and add crucial context to posts. These are things replies simply do not accomplish. Also quote posting or reblogging does not = harassment! Tumblr, for instance, has had the feature since the beginning. We need it here now too ??

      That’s so bizarre that it doesn’t have that feature. Is there a reason why or mastodon just too incompetent to implement?

      She’s been saying the same thing over and over again for a month+ and I told her several times. She doesn’t want quote posting, she wants to complain

      @Trent_Hardwood @alex @taylorlorenz Ruins the flow of conversations, makes it impossible to see replies to a post, and is almost exclusively used for dogpiling. They're not used to have conversations or respond to people, they're used to show all your followers something someone said, little different than capping a post and then showing it off. They're for commentary, not conversations, and that is not what a social network is supposed to be about.

      I can see what you mean. It is generally used as a means of dunking on someone, and more in line with talking “at” someone than it would be talking “to” someone.

      Is it possible to also quote post in a reply using Soapbox? I haven't been able to figure out how to (though I also haven't tried very hard, eg haven't looked at any of the code for applications that support quoting yet).
