     It uses the work manager to run. https://developer.android.com/topic/libraries/architecture/workmanager?gclid=Cj0KCQiA14WdBhD8ARIsANao07i7Ywk9dWbs1VzQ-CAy0lrI8a0VJpECfXaf9cNeLwKMe7y18oTnZaoaAtTeEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
     It will not wake up the device, but if the app is killed or in background, it should work.
