mairin (mairin@fosstodon.org)'s status on Sunday, 18-Dec-2022 05:27:04 JST mairin @benjaminhollon I wonder though, could an RSS feed not be a fediverse account? Like, why can't I add an RSS feed the same way I add a Mastodon user here, you know?

No, that's great! There are a bunch of self-hostable readers out there, if you're into that, or a few you can pay to be on or perhaps sign up to for free. One of the more popular I've seen is FreshRSS. I'm interested in MiniFlux but have yet to try it. -

mairin (mairin@fosstodon.org)'s status on Sunday, 18-Dec-2022 05:27:06 JST mairin @benjaminhollon I kind of just want a website to go to, to read the RSS, so I have the same view from my laptop and mobile... is that weird?

Most people here follow blogs through RSS. :)My preferred reader is newsboat, though there are a lot with GUIs too. Happy to recommend some blogs with good feeds if you're interested.

mairin (mairin@fosstodon.org)'s status on Sunday, 18-Dec-2022 05:27:12 JST mairin I miss blogs. I used to consume them primarily via planet sites. Is that something Mastodon or some other fediverse tool can do?
