You know, thinking about this configuration file...
Maybe colon-delimiting fields was a poor decision since now you have to escape IPv6 with brackets. On the other hand, I do like the 80s/90s IRC configuration retro feel.
Do I change the delimiter to something more reasonable? Do I change the delimiter to something absurdist (ASCII unit separator)? Do I just keep trucking and deal with the brackets?

Okay so I think the problem is I did the (interesting) syslog part first and now that my code actually receives and parses payloads, I have no interesting (novel) parts left and thus no fuel for intrinsic motivation.
