     There are few differences that don't impact the use of the app.
     With Google :
     - Releases come sooner (because fdroid builds apk).
     - There is no donation links (forbidden by Google)
     - Push notifications use play services (that will be changed).

     @apps is there a difference in getting the app from fdroid or google play ?

     I have to admit that the only reason I keep on downloading from google play is to not download another app on my phone

     We are on Fdroid and we will not leave Google. We have to deal with issues and different opinions but that are their rules.

     @apps I strongly encourage to use F-Droid instead. Google Play vs. F-Droid is like #twitter vs. #fediverse, for example.
