I think QR codes are flawed because humans can't read them, if you don't have a device with you that can read them you simply can't read it. Ideally we would come up with something that both humans and computers could read.

Wrongthink (wrongthink@cdrom.tokyo)'s status on Saturday, 20-Aug-2022 04:09:52 JST Wrongthink @SuperDicq I think QR codes are flawed because they’re often used to try to computerize some aspect of normal life that should never have been computerized. One’s ability to move or view or do something should never be conditional on whether they can read a QR code.

Like sure OCR exists but I've never seen anyone use it to scan an URL instead of just typing it in.

Timo Zimmermann (fallenhitokiri@social.screamingatmyscreen.com)'s status on Saturday, 20-Aug-2022 20:37:15 JST Timo Zimmermann @SuperDicq I’d argue that most phones which are usually used to scan a QR code have decent enough OCR lately to simply print a URL. It’d also make it a lot harder to hide trackers etc

Timo Zimmermann (fallenhitokiri@social.screamingatmyscreen.com)'s status on Saturday, 20-Aug-2022 20:47:15 JST Timo Zimmermann @SuperDicq when traveling I found this option really helpful as I could most often pull up an English menu or at least had pictures so I had a rough idea what I’m ordering. But I’m with you, if there’s a feasible option for a regular menu I prefer it as well
