I am really thinking about my Fedi presence a lot and I am not really sure to go on from this point, but let me explain before I just start rambling about…

In July 2021 I joined @puniko@mk.absturztau.be on his (then) newly set up Misskey instance and just loved the look and feel of it after spending about two years on a big German Mastodon instance.
The interface, the MFM animation, all not so serious tone about it, it was just a fun place to be software and community wise. And I like Punis way how to administrate the instance, but I wanted to have something of my own, doing stuff myself and adding any emoji I wanted without asking first (we come back to this point later).

So I made my own instance. I had all the fun here and at the moment of writing something like ~440 followers, so ente.fun is a fitting name after all.
I did a lot of funny MFM animations, and I thing I got quite good on it. I picked up programming and wrote the Misskey eBooks bot with the help of the framework Mi.py and MiPA of @yupix@nr.akarinext.org.

But I also did a few mistakes in retrospective. I fucked up the Python versions on this VPS beyond a point I just don’t want to bother with fixing it. I installed too much stuff, just out of the fun that I could install it (there is writefreely installed on here I regularly forget about) and I did add too many emojis.

So, the solutions seemed easy. Nuke ente.fun get a completely fresh and new VPS, set up a new instance either Akkoma or FoundKey and start from there with a little bit more experience and with a little bit more restriction on to add which emoji onto it.
I even thought about doing two instances. One Akkoma and one Foundkey (when the first stable release is out) and using whatever I want, purging the one that will lose out in the first place.

    But I have second thoughts.

Anything you do in your free time takes away time from other things (Yeah, I know shocking revelation) and with one big thing changing in the next weeks it seems that this isn’t a good way to go forward.
The time I am willing to spend onto maintaining a service even for just myself won’t raise anytime soon, but I still want to have a Fedi account to, at least, have somewhat fun here. So there is the option just to go back to be “normal” user. I have alts and testing accounts on fedi.absturztau.be, mk.absurztau.be and mk.toast.cafe so why not using them?

Basically, it would mean that all my Bots would die. No more @ceilingfox @roboduck @mame_brot or @brot . But those are just another thing to maintain even though I stopped programming the eBooks bot.

So in the end it comes down to kill something off you spend quite some time on it and fixing it to a state I am okay with would mean pouring more time onto it or losing a lot of freedom and fun stuff you gathered over the time, but don’t have to care about maintaining anything…
