寮 (ryo@social.076.ne.jp)'s status on Monday, 05-Dec-2022 22:52:24 JST 寮 Somebody on Yahoo Off was giving away a ThinkPad almost for free (like 100 yen or some shit, so it's less than 1 dollar for Americans or less than 1 euro for the Europeans), marked it as a junk.
They note that memory, HDD, and battery have recently been replaced.
So what's the reason it was declared "junk"?
The fact that it's getting slower and slower to boot WinDOS 10 Home, and it got to the point it takes forever to boot.
This are the types of idiots you're supposed to profit from!- Udon likes this.

Terminal Autism (terminalautism@social.076.ne.jp)'s status on Tuesday, 06-Dec-2022 07:25:07 JST Terminal Autism @ryo At least he gave it away and didn't throw it in the garbage, so he's being wasteful on a micro level but not on a macro level, since the computer goes to someone else, that can use it. 寮 likes this. -

寮 (ryo@social.076.ne.jp)'s status on Tuesday, 06-Dec-2022 07:28:01 JST 寮 @TerminalAutism His request is to just take the parts and sell these if you want to.
I guess they've never heard of Linux and BSD before.
And perhaps that's a good thing, because if these 2 were more known among the normies, then fewer otherwise perfectly functioning 2008 ThinkPads would end up at junkyards. -

Wrongthink (wrongthink@cdrom.tokyo)'s status on Tuesday, 06-Dec-2022 07:50:38 JST Wrongthink @TerminalAutism @ryo I have made a modest amount of money by pulling junked desktops and laptops out of city dumps and cleaning, restoring and reselling them. People were less likely to buy with Linux Mint installed, but I just either told them it’s “like apple” or showed them the cost of windows licensing to keep the sale moving.
These days I just let the normies wallow in their filth.
