     @Ryle Because chats. DMs are considered deprecated, except for replying to a public thread with a DM. Mainly because of issues surrounding mentions.

     Chats will also be expanded, with a much better UI (soon) and eventually encrypted messages.

     Is there anything you can link to me that discusses this and is any of this standardised in ActivePub?
