   It is really, really annoying when you look for desktop client, it's all Electron apps. Can't they stop calling them "desktop clients"? ???

     I don't mind them using Electron...maybe... but I hope they don't claim it's a "desktop client". It contaminates the search results so much.

     I'm not familiar with mobile 'apps' but Electron literally phones home to Google, but nobody cares and Electron insanity is spreading like wildfire. There is even text editor built with Electron (like Atom), and of course it phones home too.

     @udon Electron is just a glorified headerless Chromium browser instance limited to just one soyte.
     And just like on mobile, it makes UI consistency even worse than it already was.
     GTK and Qt were already too different from each other, but at least they kind of worked towards each other over the past decade, because the gap between them was way wider back in the 2000's (and running Qt apps Gnome or GTK apps in KDE was seen as fitting as 1 black guy within a group of white guys).
     But then Electron came to make things more inconsistent again.

     @udon @charliebrownau Electron is a product of soydevs on mobile who wanted to spread their estrogen on desktop too.
     Just look at React Native for example, a JS framework for mobile.
     Then there's the regular React for the web, and you only need to wrap it around in Electron, and you can use it for desktop as well.
     
     And Electron, GTK 3, and current year Qt is exactly the reason that made me love TUI apps more.
