   @MaddieM4 ... yeah, I like it, a bit like "fourcc" codes for video codecs. Other potential trouble points: unicode and what happens if a utf-8 character hangs over the end (this is an issue with SSIDs as well)

     @nickzoic @MaddieM4 I mean if you're assuming the full string fits in 8 bytes, or if you're going to process it in 8-byte units, it doesn't matter.
