   The representative I spoke with confirmed that I was NOT the first person to call with this exact complaint. Other Albertans have also received packages containing only one ballot instead of all ten.

   He changed my application status from “approved” back to “pending” so that another package can be sent to me.

   He also told me that a third-party contractor was handling the ballots and said they had “messed up on their side too.” (2/5)

     I asked if he knew the name of the contractor. He did not.

     I'm being careful here to repeat what I was actually told rather than embellish any of it.

     I'm also not suggesting anything nefarious happened.

     A screw-up can just be a screw-up.

     But this isn't exactly a small screw-up. (3/5)

     Albertans are being asked TEN different questions, on TEN separate ballots, covering separation, immigration, access to public services, voter identification, judicial appointments, the Senate, federal programs and the relationship between provincial and federal law.

     If people requesting special ballots are receiving only one of them, Elections Alberta needs to get on top of this immediately.

     And if you've requested a mail-in ballot package:

     CHECK IT WHEN IT ARRIVES. (4/5)

     Well, this is concerning.

     My Alberta referendum special ballot package arrived today.

     Yay! Democracy! 🗳️

     Except there was one small problem.

     There are TEN referendum questions.

     My package contained ONE ballot.

     Not one bundle of ten.

     One. Frigging. Ballot.

     Question 1 on immigration. That's it.

     So I called Elections Alberta. (1/5)

     Do not assume everything that's supposed to be in the envelope is actually in the envelope.

     Count your ballots.

     There should be ten.

     I've spent the last week telling people that all ten questions deserve their attention.

     Apparently I now need to add:

     Make sure Elections Alberta actually sends you all ten. 🤦🏻♂️ (5/5)
