This seems to be a matter of cultural differences. In the U.S., it may be unavoidable that you have to express yourself completely and directly, in an almost ridiculous way. I’m not used to that. And I won’t lower myself to that level either.
It’s all right there. Anyone who can read and think, can understand what I said. (You understood what I said.)
Why bother choosing your words, why write at all, if you have to phrase things for first-graders? I write the way I write. Allusions, hints, and sarcastic remarks etc are all important stylistic devices; without them, we’d end up right where others have already been for a long time.
