If you want to create Fediverse software, start by beating Dark Souls. That will teach you patience.

@Capybro Probably Pleroma FE due to its limited appeal and how difficult it is to use.

@alex@gleasonator.com If you want to make fediverse software from scratch, you must first create the universe.

@alex, I can't run Dark Souls in a 2 GBPs VPS with a potato CPU. But I can still install Soapbox + Rebased and slowly hack through your Elixir codebase :). By the way, any guides on moving data from Mastodon? And is there a way to actually move to a new domain / change handles without losing everything?

      Cheers,

@anthony It’s possible to move with the “Move account” option at the bottom.

@anthony It only moves followers. Moving posts is a whole different can of worms, and it’s not really possible in existing implementations without breaking things.

@alex , thanks! Just to be 100% sure. I'm talking about moving all of my posts, media, following list, etc from a self-managed Mastodon instance to a self-managed Rebased instance. Will the built in option do this for me?
