      The OP isn't wrong regarding the need for stricter (or, any, rly) regulations on the AI providers, but this entire incident is on them. No backups for nigh-irreplaceable media files? They could have easily fat-fingered a "rm -rf *" (or something similar). SSDs also do fail. Blaming the clankers might feel good, but we own the bad decisions we make. Plus, there are scads of stories abt agents doing stuff like this (and a new registry of incidents https://ihavebeenclawed.com/).
