Oh! I didn't clarify the underlying assumption that any and all continuing FOSS work will ultimately serve to maintain the illusion of current-gen LLMs generating "novel ideas".

Any new problem you choose to solve "at the fundamental level" in, say, Snix, any public discussion around the problem, and any added test, will be assimilated as part of the index. Your contributions will prevent the well from completely drying out.

I am very _very_ surprised I am still not seeing calls for a full reverse on the "FOSS Project", turning away from publicly-hosted and omni-directed models, where you advertise and license your work to an abstract "user" who stumbled on your GitHub or, more likely, downloaded your library as a dependency on PyPi. Clandestine, private, and highly personal peer-to-peer collaboration is the likeliest reaction to the commodification of expertise ingested into "ai models" how I see it???

This reversal from "commons" to "trade secrets" has already occurred many times for academic writing, most recently for the "ai" "research" itself.

Ofc this all pales in comparison to the information asymmetry created by people (corporate and individual) willingly contributing the most sensitive ("sensitive" both in the sense of "personal" and in the sense of "commercially") data and even their online time to interactively train private companies' models... but why spell out such trivial matters

Idk if you choose to dig your own grave... at least don't do it for free, you're sending a bad pricing signal or something
