   nobody makes pre-baked qcow2 images so i have to make my own
   
   expanding a GPT disk is a pain in the ass especially with EFI partitions in play
   
   cloud-init support also sucks
   
   serial and vga tty coexistence is not as straightforward as linux (serial for cloud-init, vga for remote access)
   
   tons of utilities don't map across properly so i have to make a translation layer in my build scripts (e.g. GNU sed vs BSD sed)

     no wonder nobody fucking makes BSD boot images for VMs this SUCKS
