You thought ram prices were going sky high! Well, turns out that Microsoft has significantly increased it's 'stupid people' tax too!
I believe the licensing costs were maybe 3% decades ago and today I can tell you they can be as high as 20-40% depending on the system, edition, price, and source (ie mass market crap vs custom):
"PC manufacturers are seeing a 7% to 10% increase in the cost of Windows 11 licenses.."
The story also notes:
