Home Assistant detects what game I'm playing on PlayStation via the PSN integration, RetroArch via RetroAchievements, and Steam via the Steam Integration.
Now I figured out I can take a webhook to trigger an automation that spits out a game title. If I write a little launcher script that consists of a curl command and a game's launch command, I can tell HA about any game I want on Linux!
Hells Yeah!

Waaaiiiitt...
I could....curl command 1 - Triggers script that sets recently played, and sets box art to display on my door panel.
curl command 2 - triggers script to set my status to gaming
game
Curl command 2 - triggers script to say I'm no longer playing. With 2 and 3 just being generics I can reuse for any game!
ooooh this is fun!

@fullywoolly Yes! Even better... since I don't want it to set my status to gaming when I'm away from home, since I could easily be disconnected before the "done playing" is sent... I just make the title webhook available outside the network, and limit the others to local. ...but will an unreachable URL cause my script to stop? Well, curl in terminal to a bad URL just drops an error and doesn't ask for input, so maybe it won't. LET THE TESTING COMMENCE!

@hellomiakoda I've wondered when one might use a webhook but never took the time to look up use cases. Sounds pretty useful for any arbitrary script you might want to run. Can you also keep context and send a "stopped playing" one?

@fullywoolly Well, platforms that have integrations (PlayStation, Steam) already broadcast to there, HA picks it up from there. Locals are for ones that don't work that way.
I don't have docs... buuut... If you remind me, I'd be willing to grab some files, strip out any keys, and put them where you can look at them.

@hellomiakoda so you're broadcasting your playing status to some other service?
And then home assistant is getting the fully observed status with all the local only messages?
Just out of curiosity do you have any documentation handy that you are using for reference?
