yockeypuckThese rare books are being DIGITIZED and RETAINED IN THE PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE instead of being SOLD BY THE POUND FOR DECOR IN CHAIN PUBS or LEFT ROTTING IN BOXES UNTIL THEY GRACELESSLY RETURN TO PULP. How dare the AI companies make knowledge, such as it is, that had previously been inaccessible available to fucking any asshole?
@rebootbrain The worst-case AI scenario is better than the best-case non-AI scenario. Most rare books available in almost no copies are virtually valueless, unless extensively digitized and searchable so that people can find the diamonds in the rough. That's why there's three copies of them and they're not in the British Library.
