     @Ree the irony is proof of work scales based on how many people are trying to do it. the less people fight over the same coin the cheaper it is for everyone else. so the energy waste is directly related to people trying to dogpile the market.
     
     although now that nuclear AI datacenters exist the whole global warming ecology gang has gone silent.

     @Ree i have a feeling a lot of "problems" and "problematic behavior" isn't actually that important or relevant and the spotlight just gets moved where its useful to be at the moment.
     
     RMS has been the same brick head for 50 years and whether that is a nothing burger background annoyance or the end of the world has entirely shifted on politics. Bitcoin was a funny nothing burger until it threatened banks and then suddenly its for drugs and terrorism and when nobody believed that its now bad for the environment.
     
     The outcome comes first, the narrative is walked back from the field to suit it.
